Tom's Farm Native Seed Producers

This website has been established to inform interested parties about what ‘Tom’s Farm’ is intending to achieve.
From colonial settlement in the early 1800s, the land which Tom’s Farm occupies was originally used for cattle grazing. In the 1930s, an extensive seam of ‘shell grit’ was discovered under the saline flats and subsequently extensively mined. This exploitation of the valuable resource was eventually extended right throughout the Lonsdale Lakes region; the raw material has only recently been exhausted.
This 20 ha parcel of Farming-zoned land, currently leased by ‘Tom’s Farm’, is now being restored and revegetated with native coastal plants with the objective of becoming a valuable commercial ‘Seed Production Area’ (SPA).
A market for seeds is currently being developed, with initial sales indicating that Tom’s Farm has the potential to become a thriving venture.
As this enterprise matures, this website will keep prospective clients informed regarding seed availability, ordering procedure and pricing. At this early stage however, the entire production is ‘spoken for’.
